Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise indulge their sweet tooth in New York City

It's been a busy week for Suri Cruise. On Tuesday night, she stayed up late to be there for her father Tom when he was honored with the Friars Club Entertainment Icon Award. And just two days later on Thursday, she stepped out in New York City with mom Katie for a day of fun, which included a stop at Jacques Torres Chocolate. Naturally, the sweet little one indulged in one of her favorite things: a cupcake. With a stuffed panda under her arm, she perused the glass cases of sugary confections with her mom as she happily dug into her chocolate cake with white icing.

Holmes, dressed in a chic rose-colored blazer from her own Holmes & Yang fashion line on Thursday, was not on hand for Cruise's big honor — he is only one of four people, including Cary Grant, Frank Sinatra, and Douglas Fairbanks, to receive the Friars Club award — because she was in China for an appearance at an ice skating event, Artistry on Ice. Also a no-show at Cruise's soiree was his oldest daughter, Bella, 19, who reportedly has been living with her boyfriend in a seedy part of downtown Los Angeles. (His son Connor, 17, with ex-wife Nicole Kidman, was there and sat with Suri, 6.)

Though Cruise and Holmes have always been very vocal about wanting to make Suri a big sister, it seems three children may be enough for the actor, who turns 50 on July 3. "I'm so happy with three," the "Rock of Ages" star tells People. "I'm enjoying every second with Suri that I have. And I'm enjoying the relationship with my older kids, and the way it is right now."
