celebs: Al Gore | Christina Ricci | Barbara Walters | Clay Aiken | Tom Cruise | Tom Hanks | Nick Cannon | Morgan Freeman | Mariah Carey | Madonna | Justin Timberlake | Josh Groban

Associated Press

- "I don't like it when they get in their face. It is scary and frightening especially if you are not used to it and you are a kid. I think Lola is a little bit more familiar with it now. My son (Rocco) is still seriously irritated by it."_ Madonna, on dealing with the paparazzi taking photos of her children.

___

"I'm not cool, you know what I mean? I'm not gonna lie. I'm not trying to be Justin Timberlake. Thank God we have him, but I'm not him. ... I'm not gonna bring anybody's sexy back." — Clay Aiken.

___

"As an official celebrity, I know my endorsement has just made your mind up for you." — Tom Hanks, who endorsed Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama in a short video.

___

"I always had a really great time flipping through the magazine and making fun of everybody. I'm really honored to be one of those people that I'm sure people will be criticizing." — Josh Groban, on being on People magazine's "most beautiful" list.

___

"See, I got my three-year lease on my car before I saw the Al Gore movie ('An Inconvenient Truth'), then immediately went, 'Oh, no.' So I'm waiting for my three-year lease to be up, and I'm going to get a green car. I feel really bad about my car." — "Speed Racer" star Christina Ricci.

___

"If you're going to play a brain surgeon, you just have to learn how to say the words. You don't have to go and learn how to cut open somebody's scalp. I think acting is acting. Being is something else." — Morgan Freeman.

___

"The emotional center of the movie is if you knew you were going to die — that was a fact — what would your conversation be like? What would be the last thing you would say to your loved one?" — M. Night Shyamalan, describing his upcoming movie, "The Happening."

___

"I'm actually surprised how much I've accomplished, and I feel really privileged to be able to do what I do." — Tom Cruise.

___

"Whenever you do a film like this, people expect the Second Coming, and that's not what it is. So fans all get grumpy, the critics are already grumpy." — George Lucas, on the upcoming Indiana Jones movie.

___

"That's why the book is called 'Audition.' I always felt I need to prove myself, over and over." — Barbara Walters, on her new memoir.

___

"It is a sad day when an icon like Barbara Walters, in the sunset of her life, is reduced to publicly branding herself as an adulterer, humiliating an innocent family with accounts of her illicit affair and speaking negatively against me all for the sake of selling a book. It speaks to her true character." — Star Jones told Us Weekly magazine.

___

"My pastor Clarence Keaton flew in from New York. The whole wedding was really beautiful and sweet. Being there with loved ones under the sky ... it was a spiritual moment." — Mariah Carey, confirming to People magazine that she had tied the knot with Nick Cannon.

Susan G., what you're saying has merit, but realize that you're feeling the need to both read this article and post a response only validates the "star system" you so openly abhor.

I want to puke with the whole celebrity thing! So you make a movie, make a quote, go without panties, go out to dinner, write a book. Big Woo! That the likes of Britney Spears, Madonna, Amy Winehouse, are newsworthy galls me no end. They are no more or less important than me or my mailman or for that matter my cat. That these people need continual affirmation speaks to their need for prayer!

I become so irritated by the way some celebrities express themselves. Instead of stating clear concise sentences, they include more than their fair share of "like"s, "you know what I mean"s and "really"s etc.

At the end of the day, these people are still actors. They can say wateva the hell they want to say in private or public, no one's gonna care or be bothered but them the "Celebrities/Stars/Divas"! They have their own lil' world where money is like water, which you & I would never, not even close, can relate/understand unless..

Unless we'll get that one chance to be part of their lil' world and become like them!

Star Jones will NEVER be in the same catagory as Barbara Walters....now or ever. She wrote a true story about herself......I suppose MS. Jones is perfect.......lets see if a book she writes sells any copies once it hits the shelves.....
