Born to A-list parents Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, the talented ingénue acted on the small screen and in feature films, sometimes as a supporting player opposite her highly bankable father. Smith turned heads in her preteen years as a fashionista, mixing street style with haute couture as she accompanied her family on various red carpet premieres and to parties worldwide. While there were some naysayers who credited Smith's overnight success to a classic case of nepotism, she signed on to Jay-Z's record label and released the infectious single "Whip My Hair" in 2010, demonstrating she had the natural talent and undeniable star potential to make it on her own.

Willow Camille Reign Smith was born on October 31, 2000 in Los Angeles to a prominent Hollywood family. Her father was actor and musician Will Smith, who began his career as a rapper and went on to star in blockbuster films such as "Independence Day" (1996) and "Men in Black" (1997). Her mother, the equally talented actress Jada Pinkett Smith, appeared in films such as "The Matrix Reloaded" (2003) and the critically acclaimed drama series "Hawthorne" (TNT, 2009- ) Smith's older brother Jaden also followed in their parents' footsteps, starring in the 2010 reboot of "The Karate Kid," opposite Jackie Chan.

Smith made her acting debut opposite her father in 2007's "I Am Legend," about a post-apocalyptic New York City overtaken by genetically mutated monsters. The film, adapted from Richard Matheson's 1954 novel, starred Smith's father as a sole survivor hunting down a cure for the virus that caused the mutations. The young star appeared in a more family-friendly project the following year, acting alongside Abigail Breslin in "Kit Kittredge: An American Girl." Smith made her television-acting debut in 2009 on the Nickelodeon comedy series "True Jackson, VP." She was hilariously sassy as the younger version of the title character (Keke Palmer), a teen who lands a job as a fashion executive.

In 2010, Smith turned up at several of her brother Jaden's red carpet premieres for "The Karate Kid," sporting stylish and edgy looks, from '80s-inspired leopard jumpsuits and sunglasses to a Mr. T-style Mohawk. That same year, she made her debut appearance at Milan Fashion Week, attending the Emporio Armani fashion show. The budding fashionista also caught the media's attention around the same time she launched her music career. Smith's dance-pop single "Whip My Hair" was released in September 2010 after rapper and music mogul Jay-Z signed the young star to his Roc Nation record label.
