LOS ANGELES, Calif. (September 17, 2007) During their opening musical number at Sunday night's Emmy Awards, Stewie and Brian from "Family Guy," poked fun at NBC, singing that the network was bringing Jerry Seinfeld back during the fall season to boost ratings. Thanks to Tina Fey, star of "30 Rock" (the show Jerry will appear on), we now know more about his return to the Peacock network.
Speaking backstage after her "30 Rock" win for Outstanding Comedy Series, Fey revealed details of the plot twist that brings Seinfeld to NBC. And for those who aren't already part of the show's, as Fey put it last night "dozens and dozens of fans," "30 Rock" is a comedy in which Alec Baldwin plays an NBC Executive, while Fey is a quirky head writer of a comedy show.

"[Jerry] shows up because he's angry with Alec's character because Alec's character has been taking Seinfeld out of the old Seinfeld [shows] and digitally inserting it into low rated shows to help them," Fey dished. "So, he shows up to complain."

The Seinfeld guest spot, which took an entire day to shoot, also brings back a major blast from the past Jerry's famous mid-90s, collar-reaching haircut.

"We made him put on a wig that made it look like his hair from the '90s, this sort of mullet wig and he was like, 'This looks weird,'" Fey recounted. "We were like, 'Nope!' His wife was like, 'No! That's what you looked like."
Though he hasn't shot a television show in several years, Lorne Michaels and Fey said Jerry was nothing other than pleasant.
"We had a great time," Fey said. "He's really, really funny on the show and he's such a delight."
"Yeah, completely uncomplaining." Michaels added.
