more Smokey Robinson and Aretha Franklin were two of the music legends in attendance for the sneak preview of “Motown: The Musical,” which is coming to Broadway in the spring. The documentary-style show tells the story of Motown founder Berry Gordy, the boxer-turned-music mogul, who launched the careers of some of the biggest names in the business, including Robinson, Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and Marvin Gaye. (Gordy tried to sign Franklin, but the Queen of Soul went with another record label instead.) The cast of the musical previewed five of the songs that will be in the show – including “My Girl” by The Temptations – and then Robinson and Gordy Jr. took the stage to talk more about what theatergoers can expect when the show hits the Great White Way in 2013.
