However, the real Nelson, now 52, has continued acting, starring in the Brooke Shields’ 1990s sitcom "Suddenly Susan" and in movies such as 1994's "Airheads.” He’s also taken on smaller projects, including a role in the 1994 TV movie "Blindfold," where Nelson shared a rocky romance and brief engagement with his bad girl co-star Shannen Doherty. Nelson resurfaced for the masses at the 2010 Oscars, when he appeared as part of a tribute to the late Brat Pack filmmaker John Hughes, sporting a beard and spectacles that made him look drastically different than fans remembered.
