Dubbed as the king of character actors, Charles Durning starred in such films as "Tootsie," "The Sting," "Dog Day Afternoon," and "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas." The Tony and Golden Globe award winner was also a decorated World War II veteran, who landed at Normandy on D-Day and fought in the Battle of the Bulge, receiving the Silver Star and three Purple Hearts.
