Telegraph shortly after the couple’s 2010 engagement. “It was very much trying to find our own way and we were growing up. It was just a bit of space … and it worked about for the better.” Middleton, who is now the Duchess of Cambridge, meanwhile, admitted that though she wasn’t happy about the breakup at the time, the temporary split was for the best. “It made me a stronger person and you find out things about yourself that maybe you hadn’t realized,” she explained. “I think you can get quite consumed by a relationship when you’re younger. And I really valued that time for me as well, although I didn’t think it at the time.” By 2008, the two were back together, and three years later, the world watched another royal wedding.
