Javier Bardem was an early winner at the 80th Annual Academy Awards, picking up the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role in "No Country for Old Men."
Bardem, who plays a maniacal killer in the Coen brothers' drama, star bested the likes of Casey Affleck, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Hal Holbrook and Tom Wilkinson in the category.

The night began with the award for Best Costume Design, with the Oscar going to "Elizabeth: The Golden Age."
Other early awards included Best Animated Feature for "Ratatouille;" Best Art Direction for "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street;" Best Makeup going to "La Vie En Rose" and Best Visual Effects for "The Golden Compass."
