    She won't be whipping her hair back and forth for some time!

    Willow Smith, daughter of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, is sporting a new low-maintenance hairdo.

    The "Whip My Hair" singer showed off her new close cropped look on her WhoSay.com account on Thursday night.

    The 11-year-old star, who was also wearing a Grateful Dead T-shirt in the shot, gave no explanation for her new look.

    This isn't the first time Willow has sported am edgy look. When she first broke on to the scene, she rocked a side shave cut (See it HERE!)

    Actress Cynthia Nixon also debuted a shaved head last week for her role in Broadway's "Wit." Is this the start of new trend?

      Everyone needs to calm down when I was 11 I had my fellow classmates do worse such as act out in class, dress slutty, also these kids thought that they were all that because they were going through puberty. One more thing this is not the 1800's so if she wants a haircut of any sort let her, if she wants to be a celebrity let her. I want to know how many of you have dyed your hair, worn makeup at a young age, got gauges. Just because she is a celebrity does not give you the right to insult her, if people said this stuff to you at age 11 most of you would be in tears.

      Seems like a double standard. Here we have boys who aren't criticized for wearing their hair long (esp blacks), but its seemingly blasphemous for a girl to wear her hair shaved. The only objection I have to both sides is that the parents are allowing it.....

        @Kristoffer P:No one said that white teens didn't wear their hair long. So your seeming offense to the statement is unnecessary. And the only stupidity is being angered by a comment that no one will remember two days from now.
        @FirstmyhatNowthemonkey: Good point. But it would seem that the other question is why aren't the parents objecting? And it wasn't my intention to play into gender roles per say. It was just food for thought regarding some of the responses to the article.

      Its not edgy. Hair is not that important. I've worn my hair this way off and on since I was 12 years old and I am now 48 with a shaved head. Its not about attention either. I 've had little girls ask why I cut off my hair because long hair is pretty. I explain pretty is as pretty does, what you look like is not as important as how you feel about yourself. And yes, I'm pretty.
