Whitney Houston's Funeral Will Be Broadcast Online Saturday

Whitney Houston's Funeral Will Be Broadcast Online Saturday

Whitney Houston's funeral services are scheduled to take place at her childhood church, New Hope Baptist Church, in Newark, NJ Saturday, and although doors will be closed to the public, the singer's family is still allowing fans to pay their respects, albeit, from their living rooms.

CNN confirms that the "I Will Always Love You" singer's funeral will be broadcast live via livestream.com/aplive -- nice news for mourners who won't be sitting in the 1,500, invitation-only seats.

After the services are over, Houston will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, NJ, where TMZ reports she will be buried next to her father, John Russell Houston, who died in 2003.

On Monday, as Houston's body was being flown from California to New Jersey, it was speculated that the family would hold a memorial service at the nearby Prudential Center, which holds over 17,000 people, but that rumor disappeared as soon as it surfaced.

"[The family] didn't want to have a parade," pastor Marvin L. Winans, who will give the eulogy at Houston's funeral, told Anderson Cooper on Wednesday. "I don't think knowing Cissy and the Houston family ... it was a matter of public or private as it was this is my daughter, this is my sister, this is my mother, this is my friend and we want to do this with dignity."

Houston, who was 48 at the time, was found dead inside her Beverly Hills hotel room on Feb. 11. The results of a toxicology report are expected in several weeks.

I'm glad the family wants it to be private and I don't think it should be online either, there's some many hateful (so called professional people) TMZ, Nancy Grace etc. they want to put their spin on her death and forcus on all negative I hate this about our world today, and I can't believe Nancy God forbidd something would happen to her , her childrens or a member of her family.... we ALWAYS reap what we sow and her words about others life and lifestyle is awful.

Nancy Grace needs to go some where and sit down and shut up, she don't know beans about Whitney Huston so for her to comment about her death is ridiculous and out of context she should speak about things she knows about trying to suggest that someone pushed Whitney under water, what kind of fool is she.
      • danielle 3 months ago
If Nancy could get away with it, she probably blame Casey Anthony for pushing her under water. lol

She's a victim's advocate, but there needs to be a victim first. The very first reports all said no foul play was suspected.

I think everyone should step back and put yourself in this situation. It is hard enough to accept death no matter how it happened. Learn how to respect wishes of others and the world would be a better place. We all make mistakes and there is no one on this earth who is perfect. Some handle situations differently...good for them but please leave this family alone and allow them time to heal.

I know when I buried my Daughter 8 years ago. (my only child) I am like Whitney's family. She is their baby girl and people need to see her as that is their child or mother. They dont need strangers, I dont care that they are fans. They need to do this their way. God love them. My heart goes out to her mother. And her daughter.

Today, a young soldier in Iraq died saving his fellow soldiers, where is his publicity? Whitney wasted her talent and life yet we salute her and act as if this was an unexpected tragedy. Where is the publicity for the funeral, why is it not being covered in the press. Whitney was no role model. She made extremely bad choices and made destructive decisions and has paid the consequences of these actions. This young man was serving his country, yet his family will be given the "thanks" of a grateful country and a flag. Where is his reward and his family's compensation for their loss? Whitney had every opportunity to do great things and she chose not to. This young man did more for his country in that last 15 minutes of his life than Whitney did during her whole career. People, place your tears where they belong!!!!!!!

Sandra you sound old, rigid, unforgiving and bitter. And such simple thinking to contrast her death to that of a soldier in Iraq. Her talent wasted-in you tired outlook. I am so over you people who are making these remarks that just reek of
ignorance. You simplify everything! You assume all she did was drugs. You don't
take into account her struggle and the fact she fought alway. You are more than happy to label her a out of control drug addict. Talent wasted? With all her accomplishments and Joy she brought to the world and all she's done for our servicemen? Concerts releasing her version of the star spangled banner w/ proceeds going to our serviceman. Lady get it- she has been a role model for countless singers and will for years and she will
continue to be long after you and your rigid little judgements have turned to dust-
from where they came. What disgusts me about all this is people like you. That Is whatI don't want children to see. The shoddy willingness to negate a life that fought a struggle that many other people fight. You attitude does nothing. Many
people will fight the same fight and there should never be shame cast by other
because your "morality" Is so flat and a one dimensional that you cast the whole person out with the disease. You shame makes it harder for people to recover
and is a good example of Americas really screwed up attitudes toward a very
big problem. I salute the young soldiers have died for their country. And I salute
a great singer. A good, kind human being who was HUMAN. Dole out your
shame. But don't tell me where my tears belong.I cannot tell you where to find
compassion. That is tartly YOUR problem. Whitney was extraordinary.
I came to admire her more for her battles. Get it-Battles. She fought. And hard!
She accomplished (obviously) more than you know. Yet you call her self-destructive. Not on my book! Not in any way. She has nothing to be ashamed of!
Shame is just the most rotten thing one person can do to another and it achieves
        NOTHING. ZERO.

Well said Ensonion. Haters will always be haters. I am sure this soldier or soldiers who just died would have done A LOT MORE with their own lives if they had chosen to stay in their country and fight the struggles here. I truly believe that all the thousands of soldiers who have died overseas for NOTHING had a better place with their wives, husbands, children, neighbors, etc. Whitney Houston, while she was not perfect, was a hero to millions who are chasing the dream of music, she gave comfort and joy to those who sheltered in her music. A dead soldier is of no use to anyone. I find more inspiration in a good father to his children, a good husband to his wife or a good neighbor than in a soldier who is no longer there for his family. Mrs Sandra, you know nothing about the world you live in if you still believe in the "dying for your country" fairytale. I am sure the hundreds of orphans the military has created would give it all up to have their parents back.

Judge not lest ye be judged people...Uploaded some of her music videos on Yahoo Music about six months ago. I feel devastated that she's gone and I can imagine how her family must feel. Poor Baby... she got tired of fighting the fight. Your fans do and always will love you and miss you. What a beautiful, gifted, inspiration she was that many of us got to enjoy. Whitney Houston will be missed, but is it really appropriate to broadcast her funeral on the internet? I don't think it is- this is supposed to be a private memorial service. Whomever the hell came up with this #$%$ and bull idea to broadcast Whitney's funeral on the internet, needs to get his head examined, big time!!!
