There is barely a celebrity child in the world with a nice, ordinary name. What happened to Beth, and James, and Sophie? They have all been lost in a whirlwind of weird and wonderful names, often concocted by their creative parents. 2011 saw the arrival of more celebrity sprogs, and here are five of the most uniquely named newborns this year.
The name Harper is not so strange on its own. In fact, it's a pretty darn cool! However, when it's teamed with Seven, it becomes very unique indeed. Baby Beckham was named Harper because David and Victoria thought it sounded nice, which is as good a reason as any! Seven was chosen because their little bundle of joy was born around 7am, and David used to wear the Number 7 shirt when he played football for England.
Cree Taylor Hardrict
Tia Mowry gave birth to her son, Cree, back in June. There doesn't seem to be any explanation for this unusual name choice, but it is definitely rare. Perhaps he will grow up to be a star, just like his mommy. Either that, or he will spend the rest of his life wondering why his parents inflicted such a bizarre name on him!
Monroe and Moroccan Cannon
No, these aren't exotic holiday destinations. They are, in fact, the names of Mariah Carey's twins! They were born at the end of April, and you'll be pleased to hear that their names were not picked at random. Carey's daughter, Monroe, was named after - you guessed it - Marilyn Monroe. Her son, Moroccan, was given his name because his father, Nick Cannon proposed to Mariah in the Moroccan Room, which is at the top of her New York apartment.
Haven Garner Warren
As celebrity kid names go, Haven is actually one of the nicer ones. Jessica Alba and her husband, Cash Warren hadn't picked out a name for their daughter before her arrival, so when their baby girl was born still inside the amniotic sac, Warren came up with a perfect idea. He said she had been born in her "safe haven," and the name was an instant hit for them.
Bingham Hawn Bellamy
And the prize for the most hideous name of the year goes to….Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy! Okay, maybe it's the kind of name that grows on you, but when it was first released, it sounded like Hudson may have given birth to an 80-year-old man instead of a baby! Bingham was named after Bellamy's mother, whose maiden name was Bingham, and Kate's mom who is the wonderful Goldie Hawn. The family connections seem like a sensible idea, and if nothing else, it is definitely unique!
