Viola Davis was up for Best Actress at the 84th Annual Academy Awards. Although she lost the Oscar to three time winner Meryl Streep, she did win when it came to being the best dressed celebrity of the night, in more ways than one. What are the reasons why the woman who began her acting career on the stage, before moving into film, lit up the red carpet?
She wore her hair natural
We're used to seeing "The Help" star in various wigs. However, thanks to encouragement from her husband Julius Tennon, Viola left her wig at home and opted instead for her natural locks highlighted in a copper tone. "If you want to wear it for your career, that's fine, but in your life wear your hair. Step into who you are!" said Tennon. It was the right decision.
She wore a green Vera Wang
What goes perfect with copper-colored hair? Try a green, mermaid style gown by Vera Wang. The "Fences" actress accessorized the look with dangling green earrings and a diamond cuff bracelet. Not everyone can pull have a pop of bright green, but Viola can and did.
She's not starving herself
The first thing you noticed about Angelina Jolie at the 2012 Oscars wasn't her beautiful black velvet gown with thigh high split, but how skinny the actress has become. On the contrary, the 46-year-old Viola sported a body that's not too small and not too large, and her toned arms and chest were two of her best features.
She smiled a lot
One of the best accessories a woman can have is more valuable than a diamond necklace or $2,000 stiletto heels. It's a smile, and the "Doubt" actress smiled a lot. A smile lights up any woman's face and gives off warmth that adds to her beauty.
