Vin Diesel Confirms Seventh Fast and Furious Film Being Developed

Vin Diesel needn't worry about job security over the next few years.

The sixth installment of the Fast and Furious franchise will be split into two movies, the 44-year-old star and producer announced Wednesday. Directed by Justin Lin, Diesel said the two scripts are being written simultaneously.

    PHOTOS: Thrill seeking stars

"With the success of this last one, and the inclusion of so many characters, and the broadening of scope, when we were sitting down to figure out what would fit into the real estate of number six, we didn't have enough space," Diesel explained to The Hollywood Reporter.

Since The Fast and the Furious debuted in 2001, the five films have generated $1.6 billion worldwide at the box office. Its most recent installment, Fast Five, starred Diesel, Paul Walker, 38, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, 39, Jordana Brewster, 31, and Tyrese Gibson, 32; it garnered $626 million worldwide.

"We have to pay off this story, we have to service all of these character relationships, and when we started mapping all that out it just went beyond 110 pages," Diesel explained. "The studio said, 'You can't fit all that story in one damn movie!'"

Walker insists there's more depth to the series than audiences might realize.

PHOTOS: Which movies did you see this year?

"It's not about the action and the cars, which initially appealed to me when I was 25 years old," he tells The Hollywood Reporter. "Because if that's all it was, it would have fallen off a long time ago."

lol have you not seen the newest one? Apparently not or you didnt watch it all the way bc they dropped a bombshell at the end that showed Michelle Rodriguez aka "Letty" alive and well!! It never actually showed her dying, just Vin picturing what happened. These next two movies are going to be kick butt!

The 2nd and 3rd movies were kinda weak but once Vin Diesel came back, all the others were great.

I stopped watching after the second one, these are just getting mundane.

I like all of them but except the one with the Tokyo Drift. That one was not too good... But I am looking forward for the number 6th and 7th movies coming in the future should be an excellent one to watch. Remember in FAST FIVE where Dominic came to Brazil and Vince was asking Dominic where is Letty? Dominic couldn't answer the question. (Even though we saw in number 4 Fast and Furious that Letty was killed) Well Dominic may have some secret and not sharing with everybody. I am so excited and can't wait to see it.

the last movie was so incredibly stupid it hurt my head.It made buckets of $$ though so this was more than expected.Maybe in the next movie they will drive cars on the moon while they also cure cancer.

If the actors have to tell us there is more depth after we saw the films, then there is not more depth.
