Sarah Palin's pregnant 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, proved to be quite the "hot topic" on ABC's The View on Tuesday.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck blasted "left-wing liberals" for "looking down on the fact that she's going to have a child" when "she's giving [a baby] a chance at life."

Whoopi Goldberg said she hoped the girl had a choice in whether or not she wanted to have the child.

"What I wish is that everyone has the choice to make that decision and that that doesn't go away," she said.

"Sarah Palin is a woman who has children and has a strong family, but every kid who gets pregnant does not have that," she added. "Sometimes having a child is not the best thing for the kid.

Goldberg continued, "I hope this girl has made a choice because I know a lot of people want to get rid of choice ... I hope it stays with us."

Meanwhile, Hasselbeck called Sarah Palin "an outstanding woman. She runs a city and state ... she has more experience than Barack Obama."

Added Sherri Shepard, "You tell me what mother cannot come in and run the country after having five kids. I'm so excited about this."

Barbara Walters asked her co-hosts, "If you were going to vote for Hillary [Clinton], in part because she was a woman, would you automatically transfer your vote to the governor?"

Hopefully not, said Hasselbeck.

"To say those woman would automatically shift to another woman I believe undermines the intelligence of the female vote," she said.

Insults to none but, please inform me, what are you reading? What interviews are you watching? What speeches are you hearing? For the love of God tell me there is a totally different woman named Sarah Palin out there making public appearances that only a special few see. Because no one that understands plain English truly believes, the woman the rest of us see is fit for any public office.

The typical Joy remark she made that Sarah Palin was dumb was typically stupid. Now we all know who the real dummy is. It's Joy Behar!

I've read your comments and by your spelling and grammar, it is obvious that this nation needs to focus on education. I am a republican amazed that the public allowed this administration to tell us blatant lies right to our respective faces. I have watched almost 30 yrs as so-called Christians ignore the GOP platform and insert un-Christian-like behaviors into our separation of church and

HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT ONE CANDIDATE HAS MORE EXPERIENCE THEN THE OTHER NONE OF THEM HAS EVER BEEN PRESIDENT, SO NONE OF THEM HAVE EXPERIENCE RUNNING THE COUNTRY. BEING A POW OR GOING TO A GOOD SCHOOL DOESN'T MEAN YOUR FIT TO RUN THE COUNTRY. AND AS FOR PALINS DAUGHTER BEING PREGNANT , TO HAVE HER IN THE LIMELIGHT WITH HER MOTHER IS A SHAME. KIDS THINK IF THEY GET PREGNANT ITS OK THE VP DAUG

I restrain my comments on women’s reproduction. Simply put as a man, I do not have the proper equipment to have an opinion. I will say that like illegal drugs, illegal gambling, tax fraud…etc there will always be abortions. Anyone who does not realize this has their head in the sand. Personally, I’m not losing another friend to a butcher in a back alley. Rest in Peace Demetrice Andrews.

Okay let's look at it like this......don't society in general look down upon young girls under 18 having babies? We always here this stuff about young girls getting pregnant, and how people blame the parents for not doing what they were supposed to. What is the deal? Are you all saying it's okay because her mom is in the running to be vice president? She isn't a
