    Vanessa Hudgens Lived in a Homeless Shelter for Two Weeks

    When Vanessa Hudgens was cast as a pregnant, homeless teenager in the upcoming movie Gimme Shelter, the 23-year-old went method.

    "I actually went and stayed in the shelter for two weeks before I started filming," Hudgens reveals on an upcoming episode of The Rachael Ray Show (airing Friday). "I lived there with all the girls, with all the kids, so I think that's really interesting because you find so much more about yourself."

    To fully embody her character, Hudgens also gave herself a major hair makeover.

    "[Rosario Dawson and I] look so messed up in this movie," the actress says. "I actually cut my own hair for this movie. I did that to myself, yes I did."

    Hudgens, who's currently dating Are You There, Chelsea? guest star Austin Butler, now wears hair extensions. Her new movie, Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, is in theaters Friday.

        I find that whole scenario nauseating. I'm with you, Ally. She has NO CLUE, whatsoever about being homeless. It shows how dumb this girl, Vanessa, actually is. It's insulting to homeless people everywhere.

      she might want to find out what method acting is before claiming to have done it.

      maybe coming to the set each morning on "no sleep" would have made a more credible performance ...but who wants that?
      its uncomfortable and a hassle; and no 23 year old should have to endure that

        Maybe you should find out what method acting is. The "method" is drawing on your own personal experiences to play a character. She's playing a homeless person. Having never been homeless, she had no personal experiences that applied, so she created some by living in a homeless shelter. Not really seeing how this isn't method.
