LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Valerie Bertinelli may have taken Kirstie Alley's place as Jenny Craig spokeswoman, but now, the newly slim star wants her old mentor to follow her lead.

"She should come work out with me!" Valerie, who recently unveiled her trim bikini body, told People. "She should remember you can't do everything in one day [and] her exercise has to be consistent. She can do this. There's no doubt in my mind."

Kirstie appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" last week to reveal that she had gained 83 pounds since her bikini-clad appearance on the talk show in 2006, and told People earlier this week that she's "ready to work" and lose the weight again.

"[Kirstie is] a mentor and a motivator," Valerie told the mag. "She's part of the reason I've come this far."

And the star said that it would be easy for her, too, to slide back to her old ways.

"I'm still on the journey and still keeping my fingers crossed," Valerie added. "I am one jalapeno pepper away from gaining 40 pounds. It's not simple! It's something you work on every day."

You know it's funny how when a woman or man looks big automatically unhealthy right? You all do know there are skinny people who are unhealthy to as well? I always have a crush on Kristie Alley, and I think she is hot and sexy. One mainstream culture doesn't overide all...Man I would eat the hell out of Kristie's pink kitty

Ms. Alley, girl, you look "great" at 58 take advantage of that. You look barely 38, dust yourself off and get back on the "grove lane". You should not think about Cheer day's and try to get to 128 lbs, your 5'8, 148 is more ideal, you will do it. Shut us up again! P.SSSST, we have all been there! Just do it!!

I think that Kirstie should think about her health mostly. She does not have to be so thin that she's into a bikini. In addition, I think she should finally, if she hasn't done so already, see a therapist about the reasons why she has the up's and down's with weight and food. She's beautiful either way, but she should think of her health. Not everyone in

I know how Kirstie feels. As a recovering addict....you turn to the one thing that you can legally be addicted to; food. People may look down on you because you are fat but at least you aren't falling down in a gutter, making a fool of yourself or hideously too skinny because of drug abuse. There is no happy medium. It's not what Kirstie is eating, it's what's e

Very classy of Valerie Bertinelli for encouraging, instead of condemning, Kirstie Alley. As an overweight woman, I understand the struggle to lose weight and keep it off. We have to work at it daily, meal by meal. There is no easy fix. Speaking of, Kirstie Alley could have went that way but she did not. Kirstie, find your inspiration, get up and go after it. If not for you, for your kids.
