LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- Usher has become one of the first celebrities to join with the millions celebrating Barack Obama's election as the 44th President of the United States.

"Isn't this incredible news? Isn't this incredible news Billy?" a slightly speechless Usher told Access Hollywood's Billy Bush for "The Billy Bush" show on Tuesday night. "Man, this is incredible. It's so incredible to see that this historical thing has happened, man. Before it was a thought of what happens if he doesn't win. The public service that went into this and the encouragement that came out of it, it's just incredible to see it happen."

Usher, who helped campaign for the democratic senator from Illinois, said the election of President Obama is a watershed moment in the history books.

"This will go down in history, in black history for all of the sacrifices that the great Joseph Lowery and Martin Luther King made, this actually pays off for their sacrifice. The great Rosa Parks... So many people sacrificed for us to have a voice," Usher said. "It was one thing to have a voice, but to eventually know the best way to use it and then it grows into this, it's just incredible. I'm speechless. I don't even know what to say."

The singing superstar said he was thrilled to join in celebrating Obama's win.

"I'm proud to be an American right now," Usher added.

But, it appears that had the election gone another way, Usher was actually prepared to take flight.

"In the event that he didn't win, I planned on leaving this country," Usher said in a serious tone. "I did. I did, but that's obviously not the case."

I didn't vote O. Not because of race but because of his friends and Muslim ties and where he stands with things. We all want our soldiers home but if they are yanked out of Iraq too early that will give them free reign to start attacking and building bombs again. It seems like all of this time and all of these lost lives will be in vain. But many did admit they voted O because of color.

I really wish some people would grow up and be happy that we have a better president than Bush or anyone else could ever be. What people dont seem to understand is its not about race its about saving this country! Who cares if he is HALF black!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He is not the first black president. We had a mulatto in the 1800's when nobody made a big deal about it.

What a shi# head, "I was gonna leave the country if my guy didn't win" So should the half of the country that didn't vote for Barack leave? Love to see the economy after that happened!

The media is showing blacks saying they voted Obama because of his race. It is showing statistics of 95% blacks in FL voted for Obama. More blacks than ever registered and voted. Of course it is a race thing. But if whites were on the news saying they voted McCain because of his color there would be big trouble. We are all in trouble anyway. We have Obama for prez. God help us all.
