Usher has apologized for saying that Chris Brown should "have a little remorse" after the 19-year-old singer -- who allegedly assaulted girlfriend Rihanna -- was photographed jet skiing in Miami last weekend.

In a video for Jermaine Dupri 's "Living the Life" series, Usher says he is "a little disappointed" after seeing the shots of Brown vacationing. "Have a little bit of remorse, man," he is overheard saying.

But in a statement late Tuesday, Usher says:

"The comments made during a recent recording session amongst friends were taken out of context and blown out of proportion. I apologize on behalf of myself and my friends if anyone was offended. The intentions were not to pass judgment and we meant no harm. I respect and wish the best for all parties involved."

Brown is to be arraigned Thursday for allegedly assaulting Rihanna Feb. 8 in L.A.

Usher should not have apologized, he is right. If more people would stand up and say violence against ANYONE is not acceptable, the world would be a better place. The best way to show Chris Brown his behavior is wrong is to quit buying his music and let his pathetic career drop off the face of the planet. In Texas, the victim does not have to press charges, the state does it, which is good.

is ursher a chicken %@!*#. any man who dont understand its wrong to hit a woman is a coward. chris needs to understand his wrong. no we dont know the hold story. but it so easy to just call the hold thing off. ever man knows he would not like any man hit his mother or sisers. chris hit and he will hit again. that is the pattern of abuse to woman.

Yes! I'm with you Londa. If Chris B & Rihanna had been the average Joe Blow we would have never heard about this. The person that had did the assult would have been jailed for one hour for cool off time and they wouldn't have gotten a $50,000 bond. These people are human they make mistakes. If Rihanna wants to stay best wishes but I am tired of this whole situation period!

What ever happened to INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY??? We don't know what she did to him and we don't know the whole story. I think it would be best if we got FACTS before judging! Pictures are only part of the story

Vicky R- Rihanna does not need to press charges for him to be in court. The DA can do it w/ out her. They (DA) have the right to file criminal charges (if they have enought evidence) in all domestic abuse situations- even if the couple is back together.

Apologize?Usher, your weak to apologize to that SOB. More people should of told him off!Nothing will happen to him in court, as Rihanna will not press charges. Hell, she probably won't even show up for court. I've seen it over and over again. And if she goes back to him, which it looks like she already has, she'll get hit or beat again and again. That's her own stupi

Although we have not "heard" the whole story, we have seen the pictures. If Chris Brown did not hurt Rihanna as some suggest, why did he make a public apology and state he was taking anger management classes? I didn't beat on Rihanna either, maybe I should make a statement about how sorry I am and go register for anger management too. Makes a lot of sense... right?
