    TV show choreographer gets 10 years for rape

    LOS ANGELES (AP) — A salsa dance instructor who worked on the TV show "So You Think You Can Dance" has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for raping one woman and assaulting another.

    Prosecutors say Alex Da Silva gave dance lessons at salsa clubs where he met aspiring dancers he assaulted. The assaults were not related to the TV show.

    Da Silva was convicted of raping a 22-year-old woman in 2002 and attacking another woman with intent to commit rape in 2009.

    The jury deadlocked on four other counts, including two more alleged rapes. Those counts were dismissed.

    A defense attorney says the women who accused Da Silva were not telling the truth.

    Da Silva will be required to register as a sex offender for life.

      That show has another person who was a choreographer/judge who was charged for rape. I can't think of his name. What ever happened to that case?

        I finally remembered his name. Shane Sparks. Just looked it up, In august 2011 he pleaded "no contest' to having sex with a 12 year old girl. He pleaded out and only got 270 days. That's discusting

      Boy, if I were some of the women who danced on this show, I would find this very creepy. It's creepy in so many ways already but to find out you worked with a rapist would make me shudder.

      I did not view this man; the moral issue is 'the truth' the fine line between the alleged rape or the actual crime itself happening...Did these women lie or tell the truth? If it's the truth, then good to be registered for life.

      There's no excuse for being a rapist, at the same time, maybe he promised ot make them stars, then banged em, then they find out he can't make em stars........you get where this is going?       In my world, every rape crime would mean castration. I'm talking about a man forcing a woman to have coitus against their will. That would scare the "savable" into behaving, and the rapists that are so sick to be willing to risk castration deserve sterilization with no delay-tion. I need'a be put in charge of such matters.
