The biggest coup for a new fashion designer is to get love from a high-profile celebrity. Need proof? Jason Wu's career exploded after First Lady Michelle Obama wore one of his creations to the 2009 Inaugural Ball.
Now, the same is happening for designer Erdem Moralioglu. The Canada born, Britain-based designer is getting love from celebrities ranging from Jessica Alba to Claudia Schiffer and yes, Michelle Obama. Erdem's feminine looks can make even the homeliest celebrity look beautiful, not that he's trying to be sexy with his designs.
"I never think about what's sexy," he told British Vogue in a profile. "I don't agonize over whether her bum will look big in something. I focus on the silhouettes and the proportions and hope that takes care of everything."
We're loving the looks - and celebrities are too.
Claudia Schiffer
Claudia Schiffer helped Erdem get attention in the international fashion scene when she wore one of his creations to the 2006 BAFTAs. Soon after, his line made it into Barney's New York.
Schiffer is now a designer herself and looks to her favorite designers for inspiration.
I have always loved cashmere and knitwear is the first thing I'm drawn to when shopping - even if I don't need any... To start the brand with cashmere felt like the most natural step to take," she told Harper's Bazaar in 2011. "I am inspired by many different things, it could be a color, nature, art."
Elizabeth Olsen
Hollywood's latest "it" girl Elizabeth Olsen threw on a $4,000 crepe de chine gown designed by Erdem when she attended the New York City screening of "My Week With Marilyn."
The actress is getting used to her fashion icon status and is getting more daring with her fashion choices, including this look. "I'm just trying different things out and having a lot of fun," she told Vogue in January.
Kate Middleton
The Duchess of Cambridge wore a navy Erdem creation when she went to a prayer service in Quebec during her and Prince William's 2010 North American tour. She also wore Erdem when she landed in Canada - a navy lace creation that hugged her body.
It's safe to say she likes Erdem's work in blue.
Kate Bosworth
"Straw Dogs" actress Kate Bosworth lists Erdem as one of her favorite designers - and she wears his creations for many red carpet events. Our favorite of those looks is this lacy floral mini-dress she wore while promoting the new movie "The Warrior's Way."
Despite her expensive taste, Bosworth claims she likes to bargain shop.
"All my friends love a bargain, whether or not they can also shop at expensive stores… Sienna
Miller's one of my best friends and we always go bargain shopping!" she told Nylon in 2011.
We'd only wear designer stuff if we could, Kate.
