Question: What do Travis Barker, Ron Artest and Chris Brown have in common? If you answered they are talented in their respective fields, you are only half right. What you may not know is that these three celebrities were each involved in their own photo scandals, in which they sent some very personal (you can probably guess what that means) photos to eager admirers. Unfortunately, what was meant for an audience of one suddenly became a hot topic for the Internet. Here is a look at each of the scandals, and the resulting outcomes.
Travis Barker
The Blink 182 drummer is known for his trendy Mohawk and body full of tattoos, but recently fans got to see a little more than they every thought they would when recent photos of a nude Barker started appearing on the web. Barker allegedly sent the pics to a female admirer, who then passed them along to Media Take Out (the website who posted the photos.) They never actually attached Barker's name to them, but it was hard to deny the possibility that it was the famously tattooed star. Barker wasted no time in retaliating, sending his lawyers out with a cease and desist letter to the website. They took the action very seriously, removing the five-year-old pictures off rather quickly, but not before they had gained over 400,000 views.
Metta World Peace (Ron Artest)
It appears that if you are famous basketball player, you should only send inappropriate messages to people you can truly trust, especially if pictures become part of the equation. Unfortunately Laker Metta World Peace (formerly Ron Artest) did not follow that golden rule. After sending a series of awkward looking text messages to a female fan, Artest allegedly tried to up the ante by sending some provocative pictures and videos. The result was an anonymous post to the blogosphere, revealing every last detail on Deadspin.
Chris Brown
This one is a lesson for musicians: if you are going to send someone a naughty picture, try not to do it so close to the release of your next album. Chris Brown was hoping to re-invent himself after a scandal with former girlfriend Rihanna put everything into a standstill. Things seemed to be going okay, until a photo of a just-out-of-the-shower Brown started circulating, reportedly sent to a girl that decided to share it with the world. Brown got accused of circulating the picture himself as way to get some easy PR, but he has thoroughly denounced such accusations, and will probably just chalk the whole thing up to making a very poor decision.
What do you think? Is it the fault of the celeb, or the person releasing the photo?
