The Peach Pit ladies are back! It was officially confirmed on Monday, Oct. 7, that Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth would be reuniting on TV, and Spelling couldn't be more excited to get back on set with her former Beverly Hills, 90210 costar. The mother of four tells Us Weekly their new ABC Family pilot Mystery Girls will be a comedic change for the close friends, and will also give their kids a chance to have a few play dates.
"[The show] was just the perfect vehicle for me and Jennie. I just thought it would be a great thing for us to do together," the 40-year-old actress explained to Us at the Starburst Candy Corn event at Illuminate Studios in Studio City, Calif. on Oct. 9. "We're starring in it together and we're both producing it and it'll be a lot of fun!"
The pilot was created by Spelling, and follows the story of Holly (Spelling) and Charlie (Garth) as former cast mates on a popular '90s crime TV series that are brought back to their detective game years later.
Spelling and Garth, 41, have already started filming, and are ecstatic about teaming up once again -- but this time, for a comedy. "We did the new 90210 on The CW. I did two episodes of that, so we acted together again after all the years, but it'll be our first time doing a comedy together, which is really exciting," Spelling admitted.
"I love performing and I love doing comedy, and it's funny, in my mind that's what I think I excel at, and it's funny that people don't know me for comedy," she added. "I put acting kind of on the back burner doing reality and building my brand for so many years that it'll be nice to go back to TV and do something scripted."
The old friends will continue shooting through Halloween, and have plans to get their children together, which will be quite a handful! Liam, 6, Stella, 5, Hattie, 2, and Finn, 13 months — Spelling's brood with hubby Dean McDermott -- will soon meet up with Garth's older daughters Luca, 16, Lola, 11, and Fiona, 7, her kids with ex-husband Peter Facinelli.
"We haven't actually connected with our kids in years, so it'll be nice because they're all going to come to set and will be reunited there," Spelling said. "All our brood – my four kids and her three. Big group!"
