Tom Brady Saved By Schoolteacher From River

BOSTON, Mass. -- Tom Brady might be a star on the field - but when it comes to navigating the Charles River in Massachusetts he needed the skills of a local schoolteacher.

According to Boston's NBC affiliate WHDH Channel 7 News, a few weeks ago the football star was plucked from the Charles River by local elementary school teacher Robin Leeds after he fell in the water while kayaking with wife Gisele Bundchen and a friend.

"We were tying up our boat to a buoy and the boat boy came over and said, 'You are never going to guess who is on the Charles renting kayaks right now,' and he said, 'Do you want to go check it out.' I said 'yeah,' " Robin told the NBC news station.

When Robin got close to the super star couple, she realized Tom was not in his kayak but had fallen in the water and she helped pull him to safety.

"I actually asked him why he fell in. He said he was racing one of his friends. It was Tom, Giselle and his friend...so he was racing his friend," Robin recalled.

When Robin asked if the quarterback would pose for a picture with her, he said, "of course, you saved my life."

"[Tom was] really friendly, really appreciative that we fished him out of the Charles," the schoolteacher said, adding, "I talked with Giselle. We talked about how beautiful the weather it was."
