NBC is drawing backlash after it chose to air an interview with Kris Jenner Tuesday instead of the moment of silence marking the 11th anniversary of 9/11.
The memorial, led by President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama in Washington D.C., and the NYPD, FDNY and Port Authority Police at Ground Zero, was broadcast by ABC's Good Morning America, CBS' This Morning and cable networks at 8:46 a.m. on Tuesday — the time the first plane hit the World Trade Center. NBC, however, skipped it in favor of Jenner, who talked about the new season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians and her breast implants.
The move immediately ignited a firestorm on Twitter, as Today was the only national news program not to air the moment of silence.

However, according to TVNewser, the moment of silence was shown on NBC in New York, with the local affiliate WNBC cutting into Today to air its self-produced special coverage.
NBC defended its decision, noting the network's extensive 9/11 coverage throughout the morning.
"The Today show dedicated a considerable amount of time to September 11th coverage this morning throughout the entire show," a show rep said in a statement to the New York Daily News.
