Tim Gunn: 'I Haven't Had Sex in 29 Years'

Oh Tim Gunn, say it ain’t so!?

On Tuesday’s episode of The Revolution, the mild-mannered Project Runway mentor made a shocking admission about his sex life, revealing. "I haven’t had sex in 29 years," Gunn revealed during Tuesday’s episode. "Do I feel like less of a person because of it? No."

My first instinct is to yell at the top of my lungs, "WHAT IS THE POINT OF LIVING IF YOU DON’T HAVE SEX!?" But I temper my tongue -- because I am surrounded by a room full of my coworkers, including my mother -- and that could get awkward.

On the show Tim Gunn went on to talk of a past "intense" relationship that caused him to become celibate. He said, "I’m a perfectly fulfilled person… but it’s very physiological."

So what made Gunn put his gun in storage for the past three decades? Gunn revealed that an ex-partner ended the relationship abruptly, causing him to give up sex completely. "He was impatient with my sexual performance," a tearful Gunn said. Gunn also added that sex shouldn’t be the sole factor in a healthy relationship.

Finally, he said of his celibacy, "I’m happy to be healthy and alive, frankly."

Oh man Tim Gunn needs a hug!!!!!! For a number of years, I knew Tim Gunn was celibate but I never knew the story behind it. Tim Gunn has always come across as an absolute gentleman and a TV favorite of mine; I’ve read his books, watched him for years and always been a fan – so I hate hearing this heartbreaking story. But if the Gunner is happy with the current state of things – than so am I. But maybe one day he will meet a pretty young thing, who will rock his celibate world.

So was Steve Carell correct when he asked in the 40-Year-Old Virgin, "If you don’t use it, you lose it?" I guess Tim Gunn may never know.
