Rumor has it that Mariah Carey wants Lenny Kravitz on "American Idol" as a judge, which isn't making her husband Nick Cannon too happy. As the story goes, the rocker and Carey had an (unfulfilled) crush on one another many years ago. If this sounds like something you could believe, it's probably because sometimes the biggest stories evolve from the smallest crumbs of truth. While you can't believe everything that you read, some could say that Nick has cause to worry if Kravitz considers any offers to join the "Idol" team. And here's why…
The world celebrated when Nick and Mariah welcomed "Dem Babies" into the world--little Moroccan and Monroe (fraternal twins). These adorable new additions to the clan appeared to solidify the couple's bond. They even continued their short tradition of renewing their wedding vows. Unfortunately raising those children together can cause unforeseen issues in a marriage. The "Are You Gonna Go My Way" singer has already raised a child (Zoe Kravitz, his daughter with Lisa Bonet) and can offer her kernels of parenting advice.
Mariah and Lenny are starring in huge, blockbuster films together.
Both Carey and Kravitz had breakout roles in Lee Daniels' 2009 cinematic success, "Precious." They also round out the star-studded cast of the 2013 movie "The Butler" (another Lee Daniels production). The kind of bonding experiences that occur on big films like this can be quite fiery. Just ask Kristen Stewart and tons of other celebs who have found dates, mates, lovers and spouses on set. We shouldn't assume that Mariah and Lenny's potential close quarters would immediately prompt any sort of tryst. But you can never rule out the possibilities…
There is that age difference thing…
It's a shame to keep bringing up the age difference when May/December couples are rumored to be on the rocks. A few (or several) years apart may not seem like a big deal in the sweet beginnings of a relationship. But the gap in age may later become apparent in ways that detract from the relationship. We don't always need or want the same things as we get older. Lenny is a few years older than Mariah and can probably relate to her on levels that Cannon cannot. And although the "Butterfly" singer refers to herself as a perpetual 12-year-old, that doesn't mean that she can't one day decide to become thirteen
