Reality TV's big dominance usually happens in the summer. With the hiatus of most scripted programming, reality TV uses the time wisely to dominate the ratings. The two highest rated programs of the summer were both reality TV shows: America's Got Talent and Jersey Shore.
But Reality TV also has a big presence in the highly competitive Fall lineup. This season three reality shows look to hold their own among the scripted TV heavy weights. Here are the three reality TV shows to look out for this fall.
NBC's 10th installment of the Donald Trump interview The Apprentice, went back to the amateurs when it premiered last Thursday September 16th. Gone are the celebrities, and now we have a whole new crop of eager contestants looking to work for The Donald. After some lagging, this new season seems to have had new life breathed into it, as the drama seems ready to go. The only question is if people will tune in as it's against cable mainstays Project Runway and Jersey Shore, currently at the height of their seasons.
There has been major buzz leading into the 11th season of the ABC hit before the dancing has even started. The season looks intense on paper with Dirty Dancing's Jennifer Grey going against Popstar Brandy, and Jersey Shore star Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino. Among the other contestants are pop culture icons Florence Henderson, David Hassellhoff, and Michael Bolton. Also in the mix is the daughter of former Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin, Bristol. Early buzz has Jennifer Grey as the heavy favorite. But no matter what, this will definitely be a season to watch.
The latest installment of the Housewives franchise brings us to Beverly Hills on October 14th. After the dismal debut of the DC franchise, fans of the Real Housewives will be delighted to see the return of high drama with this cast who includes Kelsey Grammer's estranged wife Camille, and Paris Hilton's aunt, Kyle Richards. Just the preview reel alone shows grand indulgence, cat fights, screaming matches and controversy. This will make the roller coaster rides in New York and New Jersey look like a slow carousel ride.
