They may have hosted last night's Soul Train Music Awards together, but Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson insist they're not mixing business with pleasure.

"We're not dating," the Oscar-nominated actress, 39, told Usmagazine.com before the awards show in Atlanta Tuesday, where she walked the red carpet with Howard, 40.

Echoes Howard to Us: "I've known her too long. She knows what I'm thinking!"

Henson -- who once dated Khloe Kardashian's now-husband, L.A. Lakers star Lamar Odom -- has a son from a previous relationship -- and admits that some men she dates are turned off by her situation.

"Most men are fragile," Henson told Men's Fitness. "I'm a successful woman, in the public eye, and raising a kid by myself. It can leave guys feeling like, 'Damn, how can I have a chance?'"

Her answer: "Just be a man!"

    OMG you use to date Lamar Odam. Yuck. He is horrible. I'm glad you are no longer dating him. Terrence Howard use to only be into dating white women. I don't know if he still feels that way. But they would make a cute couple. Some men can't handle a strong independent woman. You both continue to do your thing and do it well.
