Being a celebrity must be pretty hard work. Sure, there are some excellent perks, but the pressure of having your every move watched by the world has to be a little bit intimidating. For young stars, it must be twice as hard to deal with. Luckily, there are some incredible teen role models in the business who make fame seem easy. Here are four teen stars who have been particularly impressive in 2011.
Justin is something of a phenomenon, at least among teenage girls. He has had all kinds of allegations made against him during his career, but none were more horrifying than the one that was made in early November. A woman named Mariah Yeater claimed that Bieber had fathered her child! While many teens would have crumbled under such scrutiny, the "Baby" singer didn't shy away from questions about it. He declared, "I know I'm going to be a target, but I'm never going to be a victim."
Why we love this: It shows maturity way beyond his 17 years, which makes him an excellent person for kids to look up to.
Last year, Lovato decided to go to rehab to help her deal with some issues. She was battling with an eating disorder, and had taken to self-harming. Fast forward to 2011, and the Disney star is happier and healthier than ever before! Earlier this month, she visited the rehabilitation center she stayed in to speak with other women who are dealing with the problems she overcame. Afterwards, she took to her Twitter account to ask her followers to pray for anyone dealing emotional problems.
Why we love this: Firstly, everyone loves someone who has fought their way back from any kind of problem. Secondly, it's cool to see someone taking the time to help people who need it!
It seems that Miley Cyrus just can't do anything right these days. If she flaunts her body in a music video, she gets slammed for being too sexy, but if she puts on weight, she's too chubby! Most recently, it has been the latter that has been getting her in the news, with people starting to believe that her weight is out of control. In response to the criticism, Cyrus tweeted that she wants to have the shape of a woman, not a girl!
Why we love this: People seem so obsessed by size and appearance, so it's refreshing to find a teen who understands that being super skinny is not what life is all about.
Selena Gomez has made a name for herself as an actress and a musician. She is also lucky enough to be Justin Bieber's girlfriend! You'd think with so much to be smug about, she wouldn't be interested in having idols of her own! This theory was proved wrong when a surprise was set up for her in June. Gomez was told that she was going to a backstage dressing room to meet some of her fans, but when she entered, her crush Shia LeBeouf was sitting there! She was so stunned and embarrassed that she ran away down the corridor! LeBeouf caught up with her, and they had a hug, and the whole thing was filmed for the world to see!
Why we love this: It shows that even someone as talented and beautiful as Selena Gomez can be starstruck, and even though she is a superstar, she is also a normal 19-year-old girl.More from this contributor:
