Did Taylor Swift dump Patrick Schwarzenegger for a new Kennedy crush?
Not exactly, although it does look like she might be dating Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s 18-year-old son Conor Kennedy.
There were rumors that Taylor and Patrick, the son of Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger, were an item when they were spotted celebrating the Fourth of July together. Taylor got to hang out with Patrick and other members of the Kennedy family at the Camelot clan's compound in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, where she was seen strolling the beach with Patrick.
However, last week at the Teen Choice Awards the country cutie denied that they were dating by telling Access Hollywood, "Patrick's a friend! That's why I don't read any gossip about me, because I don't want to be weirded out by who people think I'm dating."
Apparently she was so "weirded out" by the thought of dating Patrick because she's actually been seeing his second cousin Conor. Over the weekend the beautiful blonde was spotted looking extremely cozy with the curly-haired Kennedy while relaxing at the family's compound in Hyannis Port once again - there are even photos of Taylor and Conor holding hands, and Swifty appears to be pretty smitten.
The cute couple reportedly enjoyed a romantic stroll on the beach; hung out at a house party; went sailing; and even attended church together. They were also spotted going out on a pizza date last week at Conor's home in Bedford, New York, so it seems like things are getting pretty serious. Hopefully T-Swift will be lucky in love for once and manage to avoid the Kennedy curse.
Conor's family recently made headlines because his mother Mary Kennedy committed suicide by hanging herself back in May. So hopefully ray of sunshine Taylor is helping him recover from such a horrific tragedy. Conor's father Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has recently been linked to "Suburgatory" actress Cheryl Hines. The two reportedly met at one of RFK Jr.'s charitable events.
Speaking of charity, Taylor got criticized last week when it was announced that she would be receiving the Ripples Of Hope Award at the Kennedy Center Honors later this year. Some critics believe that she's being given the award because of her connection to the family, but a rep for the organization denied this by saying that Taylor is being honored for the massive amount of charity work she does and for becoming a "defender against bullying and LGBT discrimination."
Taylor's Kennedy connections go even further back that her friendship with Patrick and her relationship with Conor. Back in January she attended the red carpet premiere of "Ethel," an HBO documentary about Conor's grandmother, the widow of RFK. According to Ethel's daughter Rory, who directed the film, Taylor absolutely adores Ethel and even wrote a song about her family.
Rory first met Taylor when she took her daughters to one of her concerts, where the country crooner revealed that she has read tons of books about the Kennedys. This led to Taylor scoring an invite to the "Ethel" premiere and a lunch date with Ethel herself. So apparently she's been obsessed with Camelot for quite some time.
Taylor also has something in common with Patrick's sister Katherine Schwarzenegger - they're both fans of One Direction singer Harry Styles. Back in January Katherine tweeted about what a "cutie" Harry is, while Taylor reportedly exchanged phone numbers with the British boy band star back in April. Since Swifty obviously isn't interested in dating Styles now, perhaps she could make another Kennedy pal by playing matchmaker for Katherine.
And hopefully T-Swift knows what she's doing - if she and Conor date and break up, then she might lose access to the family she seems to admire so much.
