    Taylor Swift, Adele and Nicki Minaj Lead American Music Awards

    Female vocalists dominated at the 2011 American Music Awards, as Taylor Swift, yet again, was the top winner of the evening, picking up three awards — Favorite Country Female Artist, Country Album and Artist of the Year. "This is crazy," Swift excitedly told the crowd Sunday night.

    Adele received two statues, for Favorite Female Pop/Rock Music Artist and Pop/Rock Music Album. Nicki Minaj took home both Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop artist and Rap/Hip-Hop album. "There's so much love in this room," Minaj exclaimed after winning her first award of the night.

    Although she lost in the traditional categories, Katy Perry was honored onstage immediately following her performance for being the first woman to have five No. 1 singles from a single album.

      Adele and Taylor are almost the exact same age. But the quality, maturity and depth of Adele's music is worlds ahead of Taylor's childish (though catchy) songs. Adele hands down should have won Artist of the Year.

        Good question! Dave and Debra are both right. Her brand is a pop/neo country hybrid and doesn't go off-script from the radio friendly formula.

      How in the world did taylor swift beat adele for Artist of the year? Her bubble gum pop that all sounds exactly the same doesn't even come close to the soulful, heartfelt music of adele. But then what do you expect from a country that put on a pedistal people like the kardashians!

      I'm so glad Katy Perry didn't win a gdam thing. Ditto w/Lady Gaga. Adele cleaned their clocks. Also, Bruno Mars sucks!!

      One too many awards for the same catagory, and just another way for the bourgeoisie to celebrate each other. Just like all these awards shows.

      did u see how nicki minaj was walking to recieve her award? she tripped like 5 times and it took her forever to get across the stage. i hope im not the only one who noticed how stupid that was. dont wear ridiculously high heels if you cant even walk in them.

      Yea, Adele is great. Taylor has this Marilyn Monroe thing about her. Not the sexiness, but the "innocence" Marilyn exuded in her films and then a touch of the innocent small town girl. ,

      C'mon people really? Taylor Swift should NEVER win any catergory that shes up againts Adele with. Please. Like really. No joke. Nothing against Taylor, but Adele is just a sultry, talented, way beyond her years artist. Taylor, is TYPICAL. Typical Typical. Ugh.

      Taylor Swift was so cute last night every time she got up to accept an award. Shes a girl who knows how to properly and maturely handle her fame. Plus shes appreciative, and thats why people love her so much.
