    Taylor Lautner - What's Next?

    Actor Taylor Lautner.

Sometimes people don't realize that even at age 19, actor Taylor Lautner has been in the biz for over 10 years. He started out doing TV shows and small TV movies, even appearing in a Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey project (remember when they were the couple everyone was talking about?). In 2005 he made his major motion picture debut in "The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lavagirl" which co-starred comedian George Lopez and "Sex and the City" star Kristin Davis.

But while you'd think it was his turn in the brilliantly forgettable Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt movie "Cheaper By the Dozen 2" that really catapulted his career in the direction it's gone for the last six or seven years, it's actually his portrayal of werewolf and unrequited love interest of Bella in this little franchise known as "Twilight" that pushed him from his days as a working kid actor to a mega-star and heartthrob. So what will the future hold for the 19-year-old who's already been romantically linked to another young up and comer, Taylor Swift?

In September, Taylor starred in the action film "Abduction" with smoking-hot Maria Bello. The film was sort of a "Bourne Identity" for the younger set. It was pretty heavily panned by the critics and to this date has not grossed enough to cover its estimated $35 million dollar budget. Needless to say, it wasn't exactly an impressive first try for "Taylor Lautner: Action Hero!"

Taylor's mood though will certainly brighten when "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" is released in a couple weeks. It should be another mega-hit and he and his co-stars will be in the press for another few weeks. His announced projects for the time after "Twilight," though, sort of leaves you scratching your head.

2012 is looking like a pretty light schedule for Taylor. His only confirmed work is in the final installment of the franchise, "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2." Since that film has already finished principle photography and is in post-production mode, it would appear that Lautner's not actively involved in any film projects next year. In fact, even 2013 so far is looking pretty open on his calendar.

If one had to speculate, and I do, then I'd guess there is likely a project or two that Team Lautner is working on, but the details of which just haven't been released yet. Maybe it's a clothing line, maybe it's a fragrance, or maybe he's going to try to launch a hip-hop career. At only 19-years-old though, he really does have his whole life ahead of him, so it's all just guesswork at this point.

I think with all his karate experience and it's quite evident that he can train and is very disciplined that he should do something with Homeland Security and Films. He could be the next generation Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone, or Arnold in films. In this day and age, he could do both if he really wanted to.
