"For over four years we've been working together as a family on the "Twilight" films and this year is the epic finale," Lautner said as he introduced the clips.
However, the muscular actor's most notable moment at the awards came at the end as ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift performed her new hit "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." The song is rumored to be about Jake Gyllenhaal, but since he wasn't there cameras panned to her other ex in the house. Lautner's response? He liked it! Cameras spotted him smiling and laughing as Swift swayed around the stage.
The two Taylors started dating in 2009 after meeting on the set of the ensemble romantic comedy "Valentine's Day." They played a couple in the film - and Swift said their kiss on screen was "life changing."
Soon after, the two were spotted out on cutesy dates around Los Angeles, including at a frozen yogurt spot and shopping at boutiques. Swift never really admitted they were dating, but she gave little cues.
"I don't know, he's an amazing guy and we're really close … and ah … yep," she told CMT after rumors emerged. "We're in a movie together and I am really excited about seeing it."
We thought their relationship was adorable, but it turns out it was over almost as quickly as it started.
"He liked her more than she liked him," a source told US Weekly in December 2009. "He went everywhere he could to see her, but she didn't travel much to see him."
"It wasn't really developing into anything, and wasn't going to, so they decided they were better as friends," the source added. "There was no chemistry."
They decided to stay friends, which is apparently by Lautner's positive response.
Swift is known for writing about her breakups - and Lautner was no exception. The song "Back to December" from her album "Speak Now." It seemed to tell all about her regrets over their December 2009 breakup.
"It turns out freedom ain't nothing but missing you. Wishing I'd realized what I had when you were mine. I'd go back to December, turn around and make it all right. I go back to December all the time."
Sounds like she regrets breaking up with him, no? At least they've moved on: Swift is notoriously dating 18-year-old Conor Kennedy and Lautner seems to be pretty happy about it.
What do you think of Taylor Lautner's response to Taylor Swift's performance?
