Taylor Lautner Defends ‘Creepy’ Relationship With Young Girl In ‘Breaking Dawn’
It’s no secret that Jacob’s always wanted to be with Bella, but in ‘Breaking Dawn, Part 2,’ he settles… for her daughter! In a new interview, Taylor opens up about the scandalous romance.
Taylor Lautner admits he’s a little embarrassed about his character’s love affair with the newest addition to the Cullen family, 11-year-old Renesmee (Mackenzie Foy), but he insists the super-strong bond between Renesmee and Jacob in Breaking Dawn, Part 2 isn’t as weird as it seems.
“Everyone thinks it’s so funny, and I laugh along with them, but it’s important for me to keep in my mind that it’s as simple as a lifelong bond,” Taylor tells Entertainment Weekly. ”It’s not nearly as creepy as everybody likes to joke.”
Robert Pattinson was one of the first to tease!
“Did you ask him if his taste in women has changed?” Rob asks with a laugh. “The first scene I saw … I literally could not stop laughing. I wouldn’t have been able to do it.”
But despite his co-star’s good-natured joking, Taylor is convinced the concept of imprinting — the process through which werewolves find and meet their soul mates — will be understood by audiences.
More importantly, Taylor is super psyched for Jacob to stop pouting about not being with Bella!
“For me, Part 2 is so great because it”s a completely different side of Jacob that we’ve never seen before,” he says. ”He’s always had one goal: to be with Bella. In this one, he’s happy! The trio was so tense and the triangle is still here, but it’s a completely different relationship between them.”
