The 36-year-old son of Sylvester Stallone was found dead
in his Hollywood Hills apartment on Friday. Sage, who starred alongside his
famous father in 1990’s “Rocky 5,” is believed to have overdosed on
prescription pills, reports TMZ. Sage’s body was discovered by LAPD at 2:17 pm during a welfare check because he had not been heard from for some time. Although paramedics were called immediately, he was
pronounced dead at the scene. Sources tells TMZ that Sylvester, who was
promoting “The Expendables 2” at Comic-Con in San Diego just yesterday, is a
“wreck.”
After the tragic news broke, Stallone released a statement expressing his pain. "Sylvester Stallone is devastated and grief-stricken over the sudden loss
of his son Sage Stallone," says a rep for the actor. "His compassion
and thoughts are with Sage's mother, Sasha. Sage was a very talented and
wonderful young man, his loss will be felt forever."
Although it's been reported that Sage overdosed, LAPD's Commander Andrew Smith says that has not been confirmed and that the coroner's office will conduct toxicology tests to determine what exactly happened.
Sage, whose mother is Sylvester’s first wife Sasha Czack, “was in good spirits and working on all kinds of projects” prior to his death, according to his attorney George Braunstein. “He was planning on getting married. I am just devastated. He was an extremely wonderful, loving guy. This is a tragedy.”
After his role in “Rocky 5” and his father’s 1996 flick, “Daylight,” Sage focused on directing and producing rather than acting.
In addition to Sage, Sylvester, 66, also has a son Seargeoh, 33, with Czack, and three daughters (Sophia, Sistine, and Scarlet) with third wife Jennifer Flavin.
