Suri Cruise is only 7 years old, and she's already had enough of the paparazzi. The stylish celebspawn decided to scold a group of photographers and autograph seekers during a recent outing with her actress mother, and the results of her outburst were extremely shocking -- she was called a "brat" and a "b***h" by an angry man.
In video footage of the altercation, Katie Holmes tries to keep her cool by calmly walking past the paparazzi, but Suri isn't afraid to express her distaste with the shutterbugs. She confronted them by yelling, "We're trying to get in the car… stop it! Get out of the way!" So what did the brave kid get for standing up for her right to live a normal life? According to Us Weekly, a celebrity autograph scalper responded by saying, "Bye, Suri, you little brat!" He took things even further by labeling the child a "b***h" after a photographer took issue with his words.
Sadly, this isn't the first time that Suri Cruise has had a dramatic run-in with the stalkerazzi. Last year Tom Cruise took his daughter along for a wild ride through Manhattan's West Side in an effort to avoid the paps. His SUV allegedly reached 20 mph over the speed limit.
Brazen photogs have engaged in a lot of rude and dangerous behavior in recent years. Halle Berry is one celeb mom who won't stand for her child being stalked, so last month she testified about the paparazzi during a hearing for a bill that would restrict them from snapping shots of celebrity children. "They jump out of the bushes and from behind cars and who knows where else, besieging these children just to get a photo," she stated. Halle also revealed that her daughter Nahla is so afraid of the photographers that she fears for her life.
But celebrity offspring aren't the only children who have suffered because of the shutterbugs. Last month Nicole Richie posted an Instagram photo of a paparazzo who had dropped his own child to take a picture of Richie. This is how the celeb mom captioned the photo: "This paparazzi dragged his poor, sweet little girl on my plane from NYC to LA. As he ran her off the plane, he dropped her ON THE FLOOR of LAX as she laid there, crying her eyes out.. Just to get his shot. #Heartbreaking #FatherOfTheYear." Nicole has never been a fan of the photogs -- she was injured in 2009 when a paparazzo rear-ended her car.
But another incident that occurred in 2009 is even worse. According to TMZ, a photographer snapped pictures of a 13-year-old girl changing clothes in a guest room of George Clooney's Italian villa. The paparazzo also snagged shots of Clooney enjoying what he thought were private moments with his ex, Elisabetta Canalis. The actor issued this statement to TMZ: "We're suing two magazines AND a photographer. I don't know about the law in the United States but in Italy it's illegal for photographers to climb over my wall and to take long lens pictures of a 13-year-old girl in her bedroom. I draw the line of privacy at that."
Underage celeb kids like Kylie Jenner have also spoken out about the invasive paparazzi pests. According to Gossip Cop, Kylie made this statement in a recent Keek video: "I do not think it should be legal for five guys in cars to follow me to school… I'm a 15-year-old girl, I don't think five guys following me is really appropriate." Her half-sister Kim Kardashian also made a complaint about the paps last month -- she claimed that the shutterbugs threatened her life and that of her unborn child.
So do you think that the stalkerazzi should leave kids alone?
