Steven Tyler’s ‘Star Spangled Banner' - 5 More Botched Renditions

Steven Tyler's rendition of the National Anthem wasn't exactly music to our ears.

"American Idol's" Steven Tyler judges singing prowess for a living, but would he have sent himself home after his pitchy performance this past weekend?

The rocker screeched through a rendition of the "Star Spangled Banner" at the AFC championship game -- and he may have just landed himself in the National Anthem Hall of Shame.

You can check out a video of Steven Tyler's screechy 2011 national anthem performance here. (He also botched the song at a 2010 Boston Bruins game here and at the 2001 Indianapolis 500 here, but who's counting?)

So who does the "Idol" judge join in the Hall of Shame?

    Lauren Alaina

Speaking of "American Idol," Season 10 runner up Lauren Alaina flubbed her rendition of the nation's song when she performed it at the 2011 Detroit Lions/Green Bay Packers Thanksgiving Day game. The country singer went blank mid-song, singing "What so proudly we hailed, through the twi..." before going silent. Probably the longest five seconds of her life! But according to Yahoo TV, the 17-year old recovered just fine, as FOX TV announcer Joe Buck so eloquently pointed out: "It's all about how you finish."

    Roseanne Barr

Who can forget comedian's Roseanne Barr's scream of a performance of "The Star Spangled Banner" at a 1990 San Diego Padres game -a rendition that was anything but funny. (You can see it here.) While many fans were offended by Roseanne's crotch-grabbing and spitting at the end, let's face it, the whole thing was offensive -- to the ears! She left the field amid a sea of angry boos. Rosie, don't quit your macadamia nut farm day job!

    Christina Aguilera

Pop singer Christina Aguilera definitely did not score at the big game! XTina forgot the lyrics to one of the most recognized songs of all time when she sang it at the 2011 Superbowl -- where she inadvertently sang the same line twice. According to the Huffington Post, Aguilera later said in a statement to the AP: "I got so lost in the moment of the song that I lost my place. I can only hope that everyone could feel my love for this country and that the true spirit of its anthem still came through." But she admitted to talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, "That night I knew, I just made myself a Trivial Pursuit question."

    Michael Bolton

At the 2003 Red Sox and the Yankees American League Championship game, Michael Bolton made a major Fenway Park faux pas when he forgot the lyrics to the "Star Spangled Banner" -- then blatantly used his hand for a cheat sheet! Dude, could you have least been a little more discreet? Check out his screw-up at the 46 second mark here.

    Cyndi Lauper

80's pop star Cyndi Lauper got caught up in the moment and tripped up her lyrics when she sang the anthem at the 2011 US Open after a moment of silence for the victims of 9/11. (Lauper sang that "our flag was still streaming.") According to the Los Angeles Times, the "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" singer later revealed via Twitter that she "got choked up in the middle remembering 9/11." She also wrote: "I hope I didn't mess up too bad. I wanted it to be comforting." Okay, so maybe this one wasn't so shame-worthy!
