NEW YORK - A World Series in New York means one thing: a star-studded event on and off the field.
Playing the first Fall Classic game in the $1.5 billion Yankee Stadium has brought out the bold-faced names Wednesday night, but the biggest fuss was made for First Lady Michelle Obama and Jill Biden, who participated in the pregame ceremonies to honor U.S. war veterans.
The performance of hip-hop mogul Jay'z and fellow New Yorker Alicia Keys, singing his hit "Empire State of Mind," was postponed because of poor weather. They will sing before the start of Game 2 on Thursday night.
Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, director Steven Spielberg and former New York Rangers captain Mark Messier were among the celebrities spotted early in the game.
