Star Jones says it wasn't hard to sit down and talk for the first time about her controversial gastric-bypass surgery.

The reason?

She was talking to Oprah.

"I had a great time, and the best part about doing it with Oprah is she's the very best interviewer," Jones, 46, told Usmagazine.com Monday at the 2009 Skating with the Stars event in NYC. "She puts you in a safe and wonderful environment, and you really don't feel the need to have to discuss it ever again because you can say, 'Go to the videotape.'"

Look back at Oprah's weight highs and lows over the years.

After losing 160 pounds, Jones initially kept quiet about the surgery, insisting she lost the weigh through diet and exercise. Her decision not to tell the truth contributed to ABC's decision not to renew her View contract.

Jones told Us it was tough "absolutely opening my heart to somebody else." But Winfrey has experienced "the same kind of [weight] issues. When you're sitting across from someone who has had similar experiences, it's so much easier."

"And so we said we were going to open it all up, and I think that's what most people felt," she added. "There were no doors closed, there's no apprehension [when] you're talking to Oprah."

  • People are saying they like her better fat or that she should not have lied, but the reality is that maybe she was embarassed about how she was losing weight and maybe she didn't like being fat. I feel it is none of our business what she or any other celebrity does with thier wieght or personal lives. We put to much emphasis on what they do, if they have talent you either like em for it

  • Taking so long to come clean sort of undoes the whole big thing. Why so secreative initially, and no amount of exercise can cut the weight as fast as weight loss surgery. It was insulting to her fans. And now what is he claim to fame??

Try lowering the eyebrows a bit, way too high and not a good feature on her face as she has a sharp pronounced nose. Nice boob job, though!

LOL What did she come clean about? It's not like the world didn't know she had gastric bypass surgery. I can't stand Star Jones she's so phony. What she should come clean about is how her neck supports the weight of her big head?
