Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi is gearing up for her first go at motherhood, but she's already a mother to her pet dogs, much to the chagrin of animals rights activists at PETA. The group blasted the pint-sized reality star last week for dying her dogs' fur to match her outfit.
"Dyeing a companion animal's fur causes the animal stress and can lead to complications or allergic reactions that endanger the animal's health," a PETA rep said. "Our dogs and cats love us regardless of how we look; we should extend the same kindness to them."
Snooki can take comfort in the fact that she's not the first - or the last - celebrity to get a nastygram from PETA. Find out who else is on their bad side.
Kim Kardashian is one of PETA's biggest targets, thanks to her love of animal fur fashion. The organization even took out a huge billboard in Los Angeles to get Kardashian's attention, but she still wears fur.
"Kim knows that animals on fur farms are beaten, electrocuted, and often skinned alive. We've explained it to her, and she's watched a video exposé that was filmed inside fur farms," PETA Senior Vice President Lisa Lange said last November.
"When Kim is ready to put an end to her relationship with fur, PETA will be happy to take her discards and donate them to the homeless."
An animal rights activist - apparently acting alone - took her protest another step when she blasted the reality star with a bunch of flour last week and called her a "fur hag." PETA denied involvement in the stunt, though they applaud the woman's efforts.
"PETA has tried everything from polite letters to public protests, but Kim Kardashian has not been moved by the news that animals are beaten, electrocuted, and even skinned alive for real fur garments. Whoever threw that flour may reach her when our polite appeals did not," the rep added.
Kardashian pal Kanye West might be PETA enemy number one, thanks to his love of fur. The rapper turned fashion designer recently used the fur of murdered lamb fetuses to create his fashion collection, which showed at Paris Fashion Week.
Several years ago and prior to his fashion empire, the organization blasted him and then-girlfriend Amber Rose for their head-to-toe fur outfits.
"Kanye can't help making himself look like an idiot, whether at an awards show or a fashion show. He and his girlfriend look like pathetic creatures from a shabby roadside zoo," PETA wrote.
Has it made any difference? Sadly, no.
