Move over Willow Smith! The teen star has some big league company on the pop charts courtesy of her own father.
Will Smith is once again the king of summer with one of the season's biggest hit movies to his credit and a hot new song for summer. Once upon a time it was a summer tradition that the warmer weather would bring about a brand new summer blockbuster starring the Fresh Prince coupled with the chart topping hit that got us all grooving and bobbing our heads to the music. Then fatherhood took hold and the star took a mini break to let his kids get in on the action. Fast forward a few years and the actor is back with the mega hit "Men In Black 3" and a remixed version of his hit seasonal song, "Summertime".
Here are some other blasts from the past making it big again in 2012:
"American Reunion": Those pesky kids from the "American Pie" movies proved they may be older, but they are not quite all grown up in the eighth film in the comedic series. Thirteen years after their high school graduation, the original gang returns for their big reunion where hijinks ensue. The film brought in $226 million proving we're all still kids at heart.
Hair Bands: The 1980s were an age of big hair and loud music. The two combine gloriously in the upcoming Tom Cruise film, "Rock of Ages". Based on the Broadway musical of the same name, the film boasts some of the greatest music of the hair band era including songs by Bon Jovi, Guns N' Roses, Def Leppard, Foreigner, Poison, and more.
"Mission: Impossible": Tom Cruise returned to his action roots in the fourth installment of the film franchise in late 2012. "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" was such a huge success raking in $693 million that a fifth film is being fast tracked through Hollywood.
