Simon Cowell Joins Twitter; Engages in (Virtual) Fight with Piers Morgan
The X Factor's Simon Cowell is certainly making an entrance into the Twitterverse. In barely 24 hours, Cowell has amassed more than 200,000 followers ... and gotten into a fight with Piers Morgan!
The former American Idol judge, who had previously dismissed the notion of social networking, finally succumbed to the pressure on Wednesday afternoon prior to The X Factor's live performance episode.
"It's official, I know it's taken a while. It's really me! We're live in 10 minutes. I'll keep you posted. Lots of love #iamsimon" he tweeted.
The X Factor's rock night hits rock bottom
During the evening's performances, his tweets were consistent with his notoriously candid — albeit harsh — commentary on the show. "Leroy-boring, Rachel-amazing," and then, "Drew was amazing. The girls @PaulaAbdul and @NicoleScherzy are threatened by her."
Shortly after, Morgan offered Cowell a warm Twitter welcome. "Save your breath @SimonCowell - nobody's watching X Factor, my show's about to start #CNN @PiersTonight."
To which Simon replied: "@piersmorgan look up the word deluded in your dictionary."
