LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- "The View" co-host Sherri Shepherd has gone on the record, admitting she had several abortions.

Shepherd made the revelation during an interview featured in the new issue of Precious Times magazine.

In a multi-page cover story with the Christian magazine, the comedienne admitted that she before she found fame, she experienced abusive relationships, major family traumas and depression.

"In 1993, my mother was dying from diabetic complications. My sister was heavy into drugs, and we would have to go and get her from crack houses. I was in a very physically abusive relationship. I was sleeping with a lot of guys and had more abortions than I would like to count," Shepherd told the magazine. "I had very low self-esteem and just wanted to die. I felt if someone killed me, it wouldn't even make a difference. But God showed me that it would make a difference."

Shepherd, 41, also told the magazine that appearing on ABC's "The View" can be tough. She even suggested one of her spiritual leaders could "save" co-host Barbara Walters.

"Oh sometimes I say, 'Lord, Juanita Bynum or Joyce Myers would be so good at this table. They could lay hands on Barbara Walters and get her saved,'" she said. "I ask the Lord, 'Why am I here?' I have to trust God when He says, 'Because I said so.'"

Having overcome many of the struggles of her past, Shepherd told Precious Times she is winning the war against another problem that has plagued her - being overweight. But it took "The View's" audience to point that out.

"One day on 'The View' I noticed that we had a lot of big girls in the audience I told them to stick around because we were going to have a large woman fashion show. They looked at me and said, 'Sherri, you are not a big girl.' I was so embarrassed," she said. "A lot of women look at me and say I give them hope. I really want them to be healthy."

Although I have never been able to stomach more than five or ten seconds of any of the nonsensical, unintelligent ramblings spewed forth by the cackling hens on The View(Goldberg excluded, I do understand that she has a career in entertainment and she has to pay the bills) I have to give Miss Shepherd props for landing that sweet guest starring gig on 30 Rock. Other than that-geez-shutup.

I believe that hurtful people can take this story and simply sabatoge your life, even though being honest has a plus side for you, in the end it can be a rough act to follow. I believe that every woman has a choice to make in life and some chose seperately based on thier own life decisions. I am sure she isn't the only one. ITS HER LIFE SO LET HER DO AS SHE PLEASES, NO NEED FOR BAD REPLIES

I have not figured out if Sherry thinks by showing her ignorance and telling all that she is endearing herself to others. She needs to re-think the "I am ditzy, see how stupid I can appear". She should concentrate on taking cues from Whoopi, whom I find intelligent, well versed, and able to conversate. I am surprised that the producers are allowing this unintelligent loud mout
