Shailene Woodley has been an actress for quite some time, but it wasn't until starring alongside George Clooney in "The Descendants" that she really got propelled into the public spotlight. Now, the sweet-faced beauty has posed topless for a Vs. magazine cover. The cover and editorial were shot by actress/photographer Drew Barrymore. Some are saying the 20-year-old is too young to be posing topless. Was the cover a good or bad career move?
The cover
For Vs. magazine, Shailene looks very much like a woman and not so much like the teen she plays on "The Secret Life of the American Teenager." On the cover, she's topless with her back facing the camera while she looks over her shoulder. Her usually straight hair is in a wild mess of curls and she has quite a bit of makeup on. The photo is edgy and it's fabulous. It's unlike how we've seen her before and as beautiful as she usually is, the photo showcases a different side of that beauty.
George Clooney's opinion
Any time the Hollywood royal has had anything to say about his co-star, it's been positive. Let's face it, when one of the biggest names in the entertainment industry appreciates you for your talent as well as for who you are as a person, it can definitely help your career.
Off-screen antics
It's easy to get wrapped up in the negative side of Hollywood when you're a young starlet, but the young actress has so far managed to dodge all the bad influences and demons that have plagued so many up-and-comers. She hasn't been arrested, wasn't photographed with her crotch hanging out, and didn't make a sex tape. If posing topless on the cover of a magazine is the worst thing she does in an industry where it's almost expected that young stars are going to fall, then kudos to her.
Talent
The actress is talented and has worked her way up the ladder on her own merit. She's earned every ounce of praise she's received. Although there are some who will likely look down on her because of the cover, it's hard to ignore how much talent and professionalism she has.
What do you think of the cover? Will it hurt or help her career?
