Pregnant Top Chef star Padma Lakshmi showed off her baby bump in New York City Monday.

She has not revealed the identity of the baby's father, but her ex, author Salman Rushdie (with whom she split in 2007 after three years of marriage), wishes her all the best.

"It's great," he told Usmagazine.com when asked about her pregnancy news at at 2009 National Art Awards in NYC Monday. "I hope it goes well."

Usmagazine.com broke the news that Lakshmi, 39, was expecting. Her rep told Us that it was "nothing short of a medical miracle," considering that Lakshmi struggles with endometriosis, a painful uterine condition that can lead to infertility.

    I am sure that it was a donor and the was a invitro pregnancy. Good for her for doing all she could to make this dream come true. Children are such a blessing and I wish her and her baby boy or girl all of the best for a lifetime of love and happiness. Enjoy!
