Scientologist model Bijou Phillips went off on a tangent about the dangers of psychiatrists medicating depression during a recent interview with Paper Magazine.

"My grandparents didn't take any pills, and they were fine," Phillips said in the February issue of Paper. "Just buck up and get over it. Stop being such a f---king pansy."

The budding actress frequents Scientology-sponsored events and spoke out against psychiatry and prescribing patients with medication for such mental illnesses as depression or anxiety.

See today's top celebrity news photos.

Phillips, 28, lived alone in New York City after legally emancipating herself from her parents -- her father, John Phillips, was in the Mamas and the Papas -- when she was 14 years old. After several years on her own, she went to rehab.

Phillips and fellow Scientologist Danny Masterson -- who have been dating since 2004 -- appear together on the cover of the magazine and are profiled in a feature on Los Angeles power couples.

I'm not a fan of medications and I personally live a all natural life, but who does she think she is? I understand if you take a stance against medications by suggesting an alternative lifestyle, like proper diet and regular chiropractic adjustments (my personal choice), but to out right tell people to get over it. Depression is a REAL medical condition... Typical narrow minded Scientolo

Ms Phillips you are not a doctor, nor can you speak for others. Do you take aspirin for a headache or antibiotics for an infection? Medicines are here to help people heal and have a quality life. Just "Sucking it up" is what causes young men to shoot up schools instead of talking it out (or being prescribed meds) Depression is very real. Evidently scientology has not taught yo

She states after several years on her own, she went into rehab. Maybe she needs a little psychotherapy and medication. I guess it is true and the ones who need the most help, never think they do.

How dare she say "Just buck up and get over it!" She obviously never experienced clinical depression! Being a little depressed over something and having clinical depression are two very different things! It's a chemical imbalance in the brain and there a great medications out there to help these people live normal lives. It makes me so angry how people think they could ju
