Scarlett Johansson will channel Janet Leigh's infamous shower scene in an upcoming film. No, there isn't another remake of "Psycho" in the works. Instead, Johansson will actually be playing the famous actress herself. She will star in the upcoming film "Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho." Oscar winners Anthony Hopkins and Helen Mirren are also onboard for the project. The young actress joints an impressive list of stars that portrayed other actresses on film. If she pulls it off she could earn a lot of award recognition. Here are some other actresses that played actresses in movies.
Michelle Williams - "My Week with Marilyn"
The "Dawson's Creek" alum is fresh off of an Oscar nomination for playing the famous icon Marilyn Monroe. Williams worked hard and nailed down every aspect of the character. She was able to capture the outer beauty and inner turmoil of one of the most interesting faces Hollywood has ever seen. Johansson can easily watch this movie as inspiration on how to do it right.
Cate Blanchett - "The Aviator"
Blanchett won an Oscar for playing the ultimate Oscar winner. She took on the role of Katherine Hepburn in the Howard Hughes biopic "The Aviator." Her accent was spot on and she delivered the same charm that Hepburn gave moviegoers for decades. Hepburn won four Oscars in her career. She also has the rare honor of someone winning for portraying her. This is another example of great work by a great actress.
Faye Dunaway - "Mommie Dearest"
There was no Oscar Dunaway's role as Joan Crawford in this campy movie. The film is based on a book by Crawford's daughter about her questionable practices as a mother. There is nothing glamorous about Dunaway's portrayal. In fact, she goes over the top so much that the performance has become a camp sensation. The most memorable moment in the film involves the actress freaking out over wire hangers. It's not worthy of awards but it might be the most famous example of an actress playing another actress.
