In her new 413-page memoir Going Rogue (out Tuesday), former GOP vice-presidential contender Sarah Palin lashes out at CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric over their infamously awkward 2008 interview.

According to the Associated Press, Palin, 45, says McCain campaign aide Nicolle Wallace urged her to sit down with Couric, 52, who is also a working mother. Palin says she was told that Couric liked and admired her. The interview would be a favor to Couric, whom Palin notes had the lowest ratings of the network anchors and whom Wallace said suffered from low self-esteem. Palin writes that she almost began to "feel sorry" for Couric.

But during the interview, Palin said she was surprised to find Couric acting condescending, biased and "badgering."

During the interview, Couric asked Palin to explain why Alaska's proximity to Russia gives her foreign policy experience. When Couric asked Palin what newspapers and magazines she reads regularly, an uncomfortable Palin replied: "Um, all of them, any of them."

In her book, Palin says Couric chose "gotcha" moments while leaving the candidate's more substantive remarks on the cutting room floor.

She also claims that Couric was far easier on her rival, Democrat Joe Biden.

In a Nov. 16 interview on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Palin says that the McCain camp told her "'it was a good interview.'

"And, of course, I'm thinking, 'If you thought that was a good interview, I don't know what a bad interview is,' because I knew it was a bad interview," says Palin.

Asked about Palin earlier this year, Couric told Usmagazine.com: "If I get the opportunity, I'd be thrilled to talk to her again."

I use to respect Katie Couric when she was on the Today show, but she does not have the journalist skills that she once had. She did not give Sarah Palin a fair advantage to express her views during that interview. I know that she wanted Sarah Palin to fail. Katie need's to become a better journalist.

Palin I don't like Couric either but, she is a reporter and you were there to be interviewed. Not to be questioned on how you wanted to be but, unbiased and Couric did her job. If you can't handle little ole Couric how do you suppose you would have handle world leaders?

Katie is not my favorite. In fact, I never watch her. My preferrence...deliver the news without your(newscaster's) opinion. Katie is accustom to being a 'personality' & I feel that shows blaringly in her newscast. She is not a Tom Brokaw...not by a long shot. Her forte: short skirts, big smiles, & new do's. She has zero weight in real news.

I'm not democrat or republican, but it was clear the media was very kind to the democrats while slamming the republicans in the campaign. And of course as a woman, Sarah was a main target. I'm sure they would have done the same to Hillary had she won the nomination.
