Rumors caught fire last month that Sam Claflin had beat out Armie Hammer, Garrett Hedlund and Hunter Parrish to snag the highly coveted role of Finnick Odair in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and moments ago Lionsgate confirmed that the British actor has indeed been cast.
The 26-year-old actor is no stranger to scoring high-profile roles: he "replaced" Orlando Bloom as Johnny Depp's right-hand hunk in 2011's Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and recently wooed Kristin Stewart in Snow White & The Huntsman.
Finnick Odair plays a prominent role in the second and third Hunger Games books, as he becomes a strong ally in Katniss' quest to defeat President Snow.
In addition to Claflin, Catching Fire has recently added Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee, Amanda Plummer as Wiress and Jenna Malone as Johanna Mason.
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hits theaters on November 22, 2013.
